Nachiket Thakur is results focused with a proven ability to demonstrate success through insightful market analysis, effective resource management and appropriate technology deployment. He has travelled the world extensively looking for new technology, design & product opportunities. Nachiket has a talent for proactively identifying the needs of the market and offering solutions to gain industry leadership.

Nachiket Thakur is presently working as Professor and Head of Design for Transportation Design at MIT Institute of Design under the Art, Design & Technology at University Pune.

His previous experience includes working as Director, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development, Science & Technology Park, (STP) Pune (Promoted by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India). While employed there Nachiket Thakur was Involved in mentoring innovators and new technology startups.

He also worked as Head, Research and Development team for Araymond India. Araymond is a 150 year old French multinational company in the auto component space. Nachiket has worked in the Automobile, Truck, Industrial, Agriculture and Life sectors. He was responsible for establishing the Araymond Technology Center in Pune.

Nachiket Thakur worked as Head of the Innovation Center and GM Product Design & Development at Mahindra Composites, Pune for ten years. He also worked as Principle Designer at Forbes Marshall, Pune for five years.

Nachiket Thakur started his career with the leading design & innovation consultancy in India – Design Directions, Pune

He is the recipient of three ICERP-JEC Innovation awards in composites for automobile and wind energy applications in 2008 & 2011. He also received BW-NID Design excellence award in 2004.

He is a founder trustee and National Executive member of Association of Designers of India.

Nachiket Thakur is the founder of Bamboo Vishwa, established in 2004 as an association of bamboo enthusiasts working to popularize bamboo and its applications. Nachiket has created around 75 products for various applications in bamboo. Bamboo Vishwa trains artisans & students in developing bamboo products. He is also the Director of Bamboo Vishwa. Nachiket is a member of the Advisory board of Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board created by the Government of Maharashtra.

Nachiket has a Masters degree in Industrial Design from one of the premier institutes – Industrial Design Center, IIT Mumbai. He earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from Pune University before doing his masters. He completed his PhD on ‘The Study of the Impact of Product Design Processes on the success of new products’ from the University of Pune. Has rich experience in the field of product design for software, automobile, truck, tractor, medical equipment’s, electronic appliances & craft based products. He has expertise in new product development, materials & processes for various applications.
