Afia Serwaah Owusu Sekyere
Afia Serwaah Owusu Sekyere is a student of Ghana Institute of Journalism-GIJ, pursuing a degree program in Communication Studies with a major in Broadcast Journalism. She is a social entrepreneur, innovator, youth empowerment advocate and an events organizer.
Due to her passion for youth empowerment, she founded Grow Africa Network to create a platform for young people to launch initiatives and harness ideas aimed at sustainable development with young people at the forefront. And helping to bridge the gap between unemployment and innovation.
Afia Serwaah Owusu Sekyere is the Ghana Institute of Journalism Ambassador for Women Entrepreneurship Day-WED, an initiative that helps to support, empower and celebrate women in entrepreneurship, she leads in organizing entrepreneurial events and related campaigns, culminating in an event in late 2015 attended by three renowned Ghanaian women entrepreneurs as mentors and guest speakers and over 200 aspiring and budding student entrepreneurs.
For effective organization and mobilization of young people, Afia Serwaah Owusu Sekyere makes use of social media to raise awareness and develop campaign messages on entrepreneurial and peace development activities on and off campus. Prior to enrolling at GIJ, Afia served as research enumerator with the Northern Empowerment Association-NEA in 50 communities of the Brong Ahafo and Northern Regions in support of Canadian Government funded project that addressed MDGs 4 and 5.
Afia Serwaah Owusu Sekyere is an alumna of Students and Young Professionals African Liberty Academy and Obama Young African Leadership Initiative- YALI (Regional leadership Center).

As a youth leader, Afia hopes to extensively network and harness requisite leadership and skills to further impact her chosen roles as an aspiring development broadcaster and social entrepreneur.
